Well, for a long time the only place that I could find peace and quiet from my kids was the bathroom! I used to lock myself in there sometimes and read.

hmm walt I think it is best done for me at the beach, just listening to the waves and staring the churning frothy green tides.

I do also find sanctuary talking to Colin on the phone, he has a sexy yummy accent that sorta makes me forget everything else

Hmm..
On a drive on winding country roads on a warm night with the windows of the car down.

In my ability to express my deepest self with words through writing of any kind.

In a friendly and kind voice in the late hours of the night. (rather far or near)

In spending time with my lil sis...taking her to the library to use the internet and to check out books to read. (I have several sisters, but she is the youngest)

More later, perhaps! This was kind of relaxing to think about too, Walt! Thanks!

In my home office. It has a lock and I made sure I had a good stereo, a small TV, a futon for relaxing, my computer, 2 small water fountains, books of many genres and all of my most precious knick knacks and pictures. My husband calls it my Crackerbox Palace. I call it My Sanctuary.

I used to find sanctuary at the estuary near my house.. the pond there is kinda calming.. and in warm weather, the breeze is so wonderful.. but.. not now, there are some memories there now that make it feel lonely.. so I'm sorry, I can't really help for your inspiration, I haven't found that kind of sancutary anywhere, for a long time.. Especially not in my own mind..

Perhaps, in others minds though.. I like to know what others are thinking.. and I guess it's a kind of sanctuary, the feeling I get when I can help someone who is troubled..

In my home office also, but not entirely with the PC on, sometimes a fresh legal pad and paper and a laise lounge I have to put my feet up with headphones and good old rock and roll, or maybe Beethoven, I have 200 trees and a forest in my backyard and the view is revitalizing.......and a hot cup of cappicino, how's that sound?

I'd say somewhere in between...

dodging rocks and trees on a downhill trail, attempting to keep my pedals but not my seat, keeping the wind whistling and the sun flashing

and....

sliding through deep powder, leaning back to avoid the abrupt stop while grinding away, turn after turn through snowladen evergreens, feeling the tears build in my eyes, the skin redden on my cheeks, and the adrenaline slither through my bloodstream
how's that?

I'd say my sanctuary is in the arms of a loved one.
That would be the safest place of all.  Nothing can harm me there.

I find sanctuary by the river. I love to sit and watch the fishing boats come and go. It's so peaceful there and inspiring - so I kill two birds with one stone!
