Hey everybody. What's your favorite season? Why?

I like summer. It's warm for one. My favorite activities I do in the summer... Bike riding and taking walks at night. Swimming. Walking along the beach. Spending time at Lake Superior.

I like spring and fall as well. The beautiful leaves and crisp air in autumn and all the snow melts in the spring. The excitment of it getting warm. My birthday's in the spring too.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of winter. The snow's pretty, but only for about the first month. lol

So, what about you? What's your fav. season?

Would have to say Winter....it's just in the bone since I was born on a freezing Wednesday. Summer's ok, but not after August in southwestern Arizona. Spring is also ok, but not in coastal Texas...nor Fall for that matter (hurricane season). But, odd though it may sound to some, I love snow. And the smell of rain...but mainly snow. It's just magical to me, even when I have to trudge through it, each bootfall a cacophony of sound, the temptation pulling me to make forts and snowballs and snowpeople and snowangels and that weird feeling when your eyelashes freeze and how good hot chocolate and coffee taste and how easy it is to freeze distill homemade alcohol.....um...prolly shouldn't have mentioned that last one......

In Oregon, we have two seasons.  Summer and Rain.  I, personally, prefer Summer.  I love how long the days are, how warm it is, how it's almost always SUNNY.  Sun is good - I like sun.

Cool. Hey thanks for replying. You know I'm probably going to wish for some snow when the first really hot humid day comes. I'll never be completlety happy with a season. Oh well. You can't control it can you? That's why I keep plenty of ice cubes in the freezer!

I always liked fall and spring in Michigan. There is so much fragrance involved in each - pungent burning piles of leaves or newly budding fruit trees - wonderful. That's what I miss too...

Autumn is my favorite season.....born in Alaska and lived there all my life until October of '99.  I love the way the air smells crisp.  Looking to the east and seeing the snow topped rugged mountains.  My birthday is in November which is another reason.  One of my favorite holidays is Halloween. Yet, again Autumn.  Then the fact there wouldn't yet be snow on the ground is another reason.

Now in Oregon....I love the many different trees with all the different colors.  It was beautiful this past season.  Red, orange, and yellow.  Very lovely.

It's just a nice time of year....oh yeah...children are back in school this season.  Yet another good reason!!!!!!!!

Ah SUMMER for sure. The smell of cut grass...the sounds of summer. And above all the HEAT! LOL

Though here it wasn't too bad the last couple summers, but it gets really humid. That part I don't care for.

Give me a summer in Colorado, where the humidity is low, and the sun just bakes. Yeah!

Ok, now I'm jonesin' for summer.

My favorite season is whichever one I'm currently experiencing, and when I get tired of that one, the one that comes after the one I'm currently experiencing. Like in December I was enjoying winter, the snow, and everything, but now I'm looking forward to early spring--late February, March--I can't wait!

Joy --
Summer in Colorado:

Days are warm, nights are cool
Mountains/clouds reflecting in a glacier pool.
The evening colors spread across the sky
Unlike any artist’s palette could ever try.
Cerulean sky, boundless as the sea.
"‘tis a privilege to live in Colorado...place, I want to be."

Gene you make me long for it! LOL

How sweet though thanks! I actually have about 4 rolls of film from when I lived out there 2 years ago, and believe it or not, they're still undeveloped.

But I did however get some good pictures of rainbows, and some shots of the river from Estes Park, and Pouter (sp) Canyon.

What I miss the most is the mountains in the morning, the sun coming up on them. I lived in Greeley, and that's probably what I miss the most, the mountains.

Now I want to live in Colorado. Gene, you make it sound like there's no better place.

Here's a poem. I call it...
Summer in Wisconsin

The morning light at 10 a.m.
Drifts in through the shades
Onto my bed
I eat my ceral on the back steps
I wash the bowl
Go back outside
Take out the bike
Drift to the country side
Feel the sun on my back
Roll back over the hills
Night falls
Late
Sunsets always a pleasure to view
Blanket of stars
Wet dew grass
Crickets chirp
Swing on the porch swing
Wait for another day

Ohhhhhhhhhh!
Do I have to only pick one?
I love all four seasons, for many reasons.

Winter? Snowskiing would be the number one reason that I enjoy winter....but also because it's time when family our gets together and has great times!

Spring? Blooming of flowers, it's beginning to warm up, and summer is just around the bend. Not to mention I usually go on vacation in the spring.

Summer? Water skiing, wakeboarding, jetskiing, dirtbike riding.....warm nights, camping, BBQ's and all around FUN!

Fall? Ah yes, the beauty of the fall, the colors. the fresh smell of rain. Curling up on a rainy day to watch movies next to the fire, while drinking a "toasty" drink.

So....I guess all year 'round is my favorite!

In Florida, I liked Winter because it wasn't so freaking HOT that I broke a sweat just getting out of bed.

In California, I like Winter because of the SNOW ... sigh, I'm just a kid at heart, I guess, playing in it and all that.

Though spring comes in a close second, here ... when everything starts to turn green and bloom. So nice to have 'real' seasons, for a change ... also helps to have a Michael handy to keep you warm if needed. *wink*

Joy,

In the beginning of the movie, "Starman," it was a scene in Wisconsin. Do you remember where that was? It was a beautiful area.

Spring in Georgia!
White blossoms on the trees, purple blossoms on the kudzu( an out of control vine that grows all over the state)
mountains of red clay
and the most beautiful assortment of birds on my back deck!

Fall in Vermont!
When the leaves turn on the trees, reds, pinks, gold and various other brilliant shades.
Nothing beats it!

I've never seen the movie, or I'd tell you.
I've been all over the state except on the far north east and it's all very pretty country.

Ya know we used to go to Wisconsin every year during the summer. And well, I guess it so goes, when you're with your parents, and not much to do, you couldn't stand it.
LOL

Recently I went back and I missed it so. The smells of the pines, and oh man! We had a little trailer on a lake (Lake Emma), out there, my parents just sold it.

It is beautiful country out there!

Autumn...most definitely...Autumn. The changing colors of the leaves, the fresh (or, as fresh as you can get here ) air, and the fact that it's not too cold, but you do need a sweater or fleece...I love those! But, definitely not summer! Ack...I guess 'cuz my air conditioner doesn't work too well, and, being on the second floor makes it worse...yuk! And, I used to like winter, but, this one has definitely gotten to me...can't CAN'T wait for Spring! (a close second fave to Autumn!)

Whoa, Paula u make it sound so amazing! 'cept I don't like the heat.. can't stand temperatures of more than about 20, sometimes 24.. tho that is way hot enough for me.. I kinda have a tendency to feel like fainting in the heat..
But I like the fresh picked tomatoes.. and swimming.. strawberries.. being able to put ice down ppl's backs, hehe.. now that is funny.. but it IS better in the Summer.. more fun..
