in the pouring rain

i can still hear the wedding songs
chiming in my ears
the dress so white and perfect
though the person it wraps around is not.
that emotion still courses through me
of the tears that almost fell
from anything but pain.
that image is permanent
of the one waiting before me
with rings and words we dive
into something neither of us knew
how to do.
we learn day by day,
night by night
and the years will start to pass.
yet i still live in that moment
of i take you
and the slipping of rings
on nervous but ready fingers.

it's been a while huh?
i was twelve or thirteen the last time i was here.
....
now i'm ninteen and married.

my how time flies....

My wife and I are 83 and we are still learning. Life always brings new chanllenges. It's never over until you are dead. And maybe not then. We have three children, four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. We have to have three christmas celebrations because people can't get along. It's not over till it's over. I like that. I couldn't stand a life without challenge.
