Illiterate Absence

"I miss you"

Three such small words,
how could they ever be
expected to hold the
definition of this ...

the weight of extent,
the depth of intent.

So few words will not
encompass nor explain.

What do mere words know
of absence or abstain?

Language leaves me
lacking expression.
Dialogue diminishes this
profound impression.

What verse could comprehend?
Oh that rhymes might pretend.
What eloquent exchange defines
inspiration's intend?

If words but could, they would transcend.

This silence haunts me ...
the separation taunts me.

Suffice to say,

this missing you ...
takes my words away.

~*~

Maybe those two words
know one other...

bereft....

Excellent job, JM...the picture is absolutely blooming beautiful...but the sentiment...did manage to pull bereft out of me....

and you did what all good poets do...you made the reader FEEL the vacancy...

so at least I know I'm alive.

Smiling at you, my wonderful poet!

I've so often said "I simply lack the words"...

So this

"Language leaves me
lacking expression."

would go to the core of me even if not another word touched. *S* But they do...

"This silence haunts me ...
the separation taunts me."

How I know... how it does... coloring our worlds with a vivid palette... defining "half-life" for us, whether we understand its scientific meaning or not. *S*

Excellent write!!!!

Now why'd you hide it???? *EG*

OMG!!  And your words leave me speechless!
The longing and the ache grabbed at my heartstrings.
And the picture is perfect!

When I see your name appear I know it's going to be breathtaking..
and this heartache of a song is no exception.

Beautifully penned JM.

I am loving this new style of yours, me girlie!

I loved all that you have written, but the shorter versions leave some room for your audience to gasp at the poignancy of the ache, that only YOU translate this well.

I'd ask for more but it would prolly give you writer's block. *smirk & wink*

I love you Janet Marie. The ocean now forevers whispers your name.

Ahhhh, JM.

You captured this sense of separation wonderfully. I loved the depth of emotion brought out in this piece. Your words transcended with a delicacy that was delightful and hauntingly beautiful.

It's always a treat to read you gator-gal. This was just lovely.

Best wishes and hugs,

Oh my but I wish I had written this, for truly there are no words that could come to me that could express the ache of a need this deep.  Lovely work, and I do so know this one well myself.

Illiterate Absence inspires so much thought when it leads with "I miss you". My mind goes so many directions that it is nice to be led by you. And once again I find you leading the way. It is so nice to learn from you...

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Ron... yes, I do know... and so, you know too what it means to me...
Thank you for all that you taught and shared with my moody(long winded) muse.

Donna... thank you for such a kind and encouraging reply...my muse is much quieter these days...and it took me a long time to get to here--but I am ok with that...I think I feel the words and emotions on a deeper level now and perhaps just dont need to purge every thing in rhyme and verse anymore.  At times I miss writing on a regular basis but not as much as I miss the company of the source of inspiration.

thanks again to all who shared some of you with me on this.

here and holding this.
and thinking of the talks i've had with a friend about braiding veins or wishing for some kind of device that pours what's really in your head or heart into hands, it would be something fluid, that swirls and expands, something much more than paper and ink, and so i think i understand that want for something more than language to not tell but /show/ because really, how can it know,...and again, gosh, i am off and rambling. i begin responses to poetry i've read and either am only able to leave short notes of appreciation or these babbling thoughts that i should probably be keeping to myself.
good to read you. this. ~a.
