Crows in pilfer
shiny things
lend some sparkle
to gray nest
a tiny flashing
splash of light
contrast
of black feathering...

This song retains no melody--
I don't believe a crow can sing--
raucous joy of arguing
within the leaves atop the tree
drowning
coo of dove
they boast
their presence above all.

Once upon a time
I did--
admire their affrontery--
Long ago
I did believe
the bragging of "I do not need."

Autumn comes with winter's greed
and in the absence of the leaves
I see the contents of the nest--

things that once belonged to me.

Keep them.

They were never mine--

I'll wait here
for the sun to shine
in glitter of the snow.

Quietly devastating and implicitly beautiful words here, Sen. Thank you.

Well, JM stole my favorite lines...smile...so,
I'll just say I love this one...'cause I do...

I think I needed to read this tonight.

Love you, lady...

love of power the world will know peace.

Mmmmmm..... you always seem to disguise perfect meter in unseeming line breaks.  So you're trying to hide the reason why the reader is reading so flowingly, hmm?  It almost works, but not on me.

You're a clever woman and your ability to use natural imagery to your advantage always impresses me.  This rings with all the subtlety of a Blake poem.  You're a fantastically brilliant woman.

Much love, my girl...

Mike, thank you for listening to ME on a day when YOU were weary. I'll try to keep my personal war stories to myself from now on, I apologize if I appeared to be thoughtless or callous. It was just my way of holding your hand, m'friend.

Jan, Jan, Jan, you are such good medicine, and I know, you need an update, and I'm running ragged again. But take a hug till later, and I'll write as soon as I am able.
love ya girlie, thanks for reading...and our conversations are priceless! Thank you

Vicky? Thank you for being patient and I'll let you know what's up too--let's just say I'm still flying over the cuckoo's nest here.
Love ya my sista!

And Brian--shaking my head and smiling. You are WAY too kind my friend. I want to thank YOU too--you are my favorite person to discuss poetry with--and god bless you for seeing past my tap dancing long enough to be REAL with me--there are very few I feel comfortable enough with to discuss anything on completely serious levels (I have ISSUES yanno, grin) But our conversations on Blake and Sandberg and history and Scripture and anthropology and modern day myth and irony and yes, even AMERICAN PIE (I still owe ya one for that) chuckle. Thanks YOU.

You are truly a doll.

And I have to run good poets, I'll be back when I'm able...

p.s. Be careful when you wish for a life--or at least be VERY specific!

*wince*

love you all.
