Sunshine

She was here today, again
with her darkling sunshine
her smiles...oh Lord; her beautiful smile.
Touching hands to match
with Oklahoma rain as background
hers dainty in my teddybear paw.

She tells me the truth
nurses me from previous care
the state calls abuse and neglect.
Brutally honest, yes indeed
my sunshine’s word and heart
funny...seems i have heard that applied to me.

God has such a sense of humor
both summer babies, different as ...
lives full of pain, suffering sometimes love.
But; this lady is praising the Lord
she is restoring my faith
as she restores my diabetic body.

Funny indeed is the turns of life
when happiness is a touch of hand
a kind word, a beautiful smile.
Did i say that outloud again?
oh my, people will certainly talk
the large white poet, and the tiny black lady.

I really like this situation you describe, Tramp Poet... Yes, people would talk, but that's what's interesting about it.  Two people with such contrast, radiant in their mutual connection and glowing with a similar light of faith and devotion.  Lovely poetry that I'm glad you were willing to share with us.

I always love seeing your name in this forum... thanks for your continued contribution to this place.  Best of luck with everything.

Dan, after hubby speaking w/you via phone last night and reading this post today, I see a glimmer of hope that I would love to see outshine everything that has ever gone on before in your sometimes tortured life. She sounds like a wonderful little ray of sunshine and I would love to see you bask in that. And so what if people talk? It will only be of envy that happiness can abide in a crazy world. I hope with all my heart (as does Mike) that you will find something about this life to rejoice about and if she can make you see beauty again and feel like a person in your own right then I say "GO FOR IT" and what others think will be their problem. Love you so much big brother. Love and Hugz... your little sister, Shawna

l0l, yes my beloved sister...
my life has indeed been "tortured" in many ways, in many times and in many circumstances. seemingly with brief flashes of happiness that usually turn to crap suddenly...perhaps the poets lot in life?
Perhaps the very nature of being a poet lends one to the tragic...lol would hate to think that ones choice of artistry would
lead to agony just to appease ones muse.
oh well what can ya do? just keep writing
i suppose...what else validates the gift?
perhaps joy, love, happiness, agony, betrayal
and all are just fodder for the machine...

thanks to y'all for the comments...i apologize i do not answer or comment much.
i guess i'm just too much the hermit...
but at least i post sometimes...lol
i would like to say i see brillance in the
poetry i read here and feel accepted and
appreciated in my little sphere of creativity...

thank you all, i do love you.

Daniel
