it is the concavity of shoulder
between blades
that entice fingertips
in childish games of tag with aurora
from freckle to freckle
there is profound awe at childishness
and jealousy in an arm-slung pillow

it is innocent, the familiarity about it all
in the knowing of a mole, or
the impression left in a duvet
or how the cadence of breathing is enough
to recognize

that feeling
green/blue/purple and flannel, cozy
a chord progression of sleeky-soft color,
promising the harmonic sense of resolution
outturned and backwards
a 'C' at rest, curled in oblivion

singular and unique, the trust
surrendered in this moment of casual intimacy and
distance
where dances the fine line of
embarassed sordidity and
  pre-eminent devotion
and with that thought dangling
from waking dreams,
it is in the profundity of shoulder blades
that enchantment is aroused

Very nice!
And here, it won't go drifting off into the distance of "open"

quote:
that feeling
green/blue/purple and flanel, ...
It's "flannel," love.

BOL, though... some impressive growth. (must happen to everything in Florida!

Thank you, Brian, but I don't know that it's fine wine...maybe a mediocre merlot *winkandasmile*  You're too kind.

wranx - amen. Open is much much too intimidating for this wee poetess.  And thank you, too

BOL, even though I misspelled (groan, I almost spelled THAT wrong!) flannel? Thank you, m'dear, for catching that.  Take care you...

Where's my book?  Huh, huh?  You're making me impatient, and you know how I am... *smooch*

This is such beautiful writing, there is so much intense imagery I almost struggled to take it all in. Thanks for sharing wonderful writing with us

I was trying to go without feeling for today, but looks like that cannot be acheived.  I felt everything while reading this.  Wonderful, Nicole.

That title caught my eye and I hoped it would be a poem about precisely what it was about.  Thanks for not disappointing me.

I love it all.  You wrote it very well and it actually made me think about my own dreams that illustrate my envious attitude towards childishness, innocence, what once was... dreams of memories that leave me waking for a while and cuddling a pillow that I can pretend still has my A-Team pillow case.

Fabulous stuff, Nicole... something I'm going to want to read later, too, so I'm putting it in my private library to keep from forgetting it.  I'll have to watch your work.

When gentlemen can see
But microscopes are prudent
In an emergency.
