"I could be a star, you know?"
she said this as she licked the glue
on the edge of cigarette
talking to herself.

Then she squeezed a form to shape
twist and licked it, artfully.
"I could be a star..." She paused.

"If only I could hear applause."

you are a star baby...
shining silver blue

(and this poem is cooler than cool)

Had such a Bette Davis feel to it

Well ... OK ... but you have to wash it first.

I liked the picture this drew, Karen ... echoing JM here ... this does indeed have a Bette Davis feel to it. Much enjoyed

PS ... I loved the title too!

Best wishes,
/Kit

This has gotta be the coolest write I've seen from you.  Love the images here, your playful words and message is brilliant.  And now you know why I want to be like you when I grow up

Thanks you guys.

And I really shouldn't be laughing, but???

It took some time, but I just realized both Bette Davis and Janis Joplin are dead.

Hmmmm...maybe I need to re-think this, eh?

Thanks for reading, and Honeybee? You just keep being yourself. Yer doing fine, lovie.

Serenity, you crazy girl... the cigarette is such an enticing image, it's one of my favourites.  A secret addiction that is a symbol of class and sophistication--funny in that way, isn't it?  How we take our faults and instead of cloaking them, boast them as virtues and impress them onto future generations.

It's sexy, even... licking the cigarette, the secret, dark need... and musing over fame and renown... just like the cigarette itself--all that makes a star is the sound of applause.  I could be a star if people clapped.

Depressing, utterly and strikingly depressing... haha... but still clever.  I can laugh and cry.

You brilliant girl, Karen...
