For these weeks now
That have turned again into months
As we traded those goods of our return
Our coffers have grown fat
And we must decide
My love
If we are to venture again
On caravan.

For now though,
the nights are sweet with cinnamon oil
That I taste with each touch of my lips
To your skin and the jasmine is again
In bloom on our sill and I would not
Leave this or you
For all of Cathay’s wealth.

I would enjoy the sway of you
Under white robe
And untie the knots of it
Rather than bargain with merchant
Or tighten cinch on camel packs.

Tell me with your eyes
How it feels
And I will anoint your feet
With cinnamon and oil
then braid your hair for bed

Show me with your touch
How the pilgrimage to Mecca must feel
For the devout….
And know always…
You are my heart and not a stone
I carry for wealth or beauty
Though beauty is you
And I am of wealth being with you

Come, my love…
Sit astride my lap
And tell me you too
Are in love.

Thank you ladies... I am glad you enjoyed.
I'm not sure hwo long the series will run or how many pieces are left to write in it, but it has been a journey I enjoyed..and the images as well as the thoughts ones to soothe my mind. I hope others too have found an escape or a dream inside the words.

I have only known one other person who had such a way with words when he wanted to...

You do write romantically and sensually when you want to

I've always wanted to know how GOOD love poetry is written.  This is excellent, Ron... your notion of love is truly impressive, I must say, and this poem really demonstrates that you are very familiar with it...

quote:
And know always…
You are my heart and not a stone
I carry for wealth or beauty
Though beauty is you
And I am of wealth being with you

That part is absolutely perfect.  Just the way that love is... not a stone carried for wealth, but a wealth carried for something even more profound.

Excellent work...  as I've said many times before, you're an awesome poet and I'm glad you continue to share with us...
