These blinkless eyes,
these hearts of stones
cast into the soil.

Into warm
and dark brown earth.
Will they flutter open?

The sun will cook
their seams to split,
leaving greening shoots.

Rising flutes,
these tendril tongues
dripping with first dew.

There are many seeds I plant so thoughtless I am glad they don't sprout....er? or do they do?

you are on an introspective kick, that I'm enjoying much, m'friend.

Impressed. (just when I thought I couldn't possible think more of you, you do this...and I love ya for it.)

Your emphasis on description of your subject's nature reminded me of some of the haiku poetry I used to be into... this is the way that form is supposed to be used.  Not to say this should have been a haiku, but I do admire your ability to grasp the real "nature" element like that.

And yes, this did poke a few thoughts into my head.  I took it literally, but it still led me into deeper musings... blinkless eyes that sunlight cracks open and lets sprout forth like that.

I admire your ability to keep this so short and give the reader more time to just think about it... I couldn't write so much about a seed in so little space... heh... if I was the one who wrote this poem it'd be a couple pages long...

At any rate... I admire your style, and your brain.  No, not the one you're eating... the one you're using.

Thanks, Local Parasite. This was just a small little seed of a poem, and I'm glad it grew in your mind.

Beautiful and reflective poem.  The wording, particularly at the end, makes for a poem contains pleasing imagery and wonderful sounds.
