Possessions

Signs are at it again
dancing, enticing,
luring, wooing, haunting.
Marketing demons
attempting possession
turning minds feeble.

Terrible thing to waste
even worse...bent,
folded, mutilated.
Forced connectivity
‘tween brain and pocket
they know what we have.

Evil high priestess
sucking thought for master
drones drone on and on.
They are after us
chasing our very dreams
twisted to make their own.

Bastards are after us again
percent seeking sensors
detection of coin stashed away.
Their assault escalates
frenzied suggestion, so sublime
they seek to control our minds.

Arrghhh.... I'm with you on this one, Tramp Poet, the entire commercial world is ticking me off lately.  How they wish to brainwash us with their propaganda just to make more money for themselves, it's truly sickening.  With all the power of suggestion in the media, I'm willing to bet we could condition the masses to stop smoking, more than likely lower the crime rate, encourage morale in the face of impending war, and do so many other more wonderful things than simply satisfy our greedy intentions and suck money out of the common man.

It just goes to show the inherent evils of humanity will always overcome what other altruistic purposes might exist in their stead.  Every time I think, "I'm hungry," I think "Oh Henry," and it sickens me.

A poem well written.  I especially like the concluding line, it sums up the entire poem so nicely, so simply... and it's really all we need to know.  Every time we watch TV we're being taken advantage of.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Daniel, this is so very sad but true, sweet friend, it is so depressing to see our capital system govern all, it is truly evil! Billboard rhapsody, everything! That is why Disney makes cheesy sequels to their criticially acclaimed animated movies that never even needed a sequel, that is why Gap and Old Navy and Albercrombie Finch torture little children in slave labor to produce their line of bloody clothing, that is why in hotels in room service all they give you for your filet mignon is a mere 8 ounces of meat surrounded by tiny parsley leaves! MONEY!!! And I hate this and I wish the whole capitalistic system could just implode, crumble into rubble and never be heard of again! (sad sigh) This is powerful, sweet friend, my prayers are with those hurt by this evil, we all love you so much, you most definitely have my vote! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Daniel, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Sweet blend of cynicism and fantastic imagery.  This is a great poem to read while listening to metal[which is how I read it just now, lol]  I think this guy deserves to go into the new book.
