My tea is steeping,
The warm water turning brown,
Just rose from sleeping
The chill waking to the sound
Of trumpeter swans
Rising to the morning sun,
Southern migration,
They’re leaving the nearby pond,
The go off unseen
Hidden by the mists and trees,
From where they have been,
Now to catch the building breeze
That swirls the mist air,
That with warming is going
Revealing what’s there,
The forest color showing,
Autumn colors bright,
I go back to my porch light
To sip tea in morning bright.

Gloom

I return to posting here,
perhaps eventually in the Open

Glad you decided to kick back a bit in here, Gloom.

Loved the gloaming autumnal deep
of these words.

Forgive my tardiness--

and you have got this down, prof!

You manage to take the extradorinarily superfluous English language and create a minimalist feel of imagery that is...deceptively simple. You stick around?

I used to live where the birds gathered for their flight south..this more than anything I've read in years, conveys the image and feelings of that time. Thank you for this bit of 'home'.
