The Fragrance that She Left
©2002 C.G. Ward

you’ve been chasing me
since my mind went
and my will dissolved
into little pools of
the fragrance that she left.

I learned though,
in the hours I spent
holding that bottle,
that there is no replacement
for a hole in your life.

Wow.... ah'm kinda speechless at the sheer thrown weight of that. Awesome.

She said burn ... together.

You've captured a soul consuming emptiness, Chris - a beautiful poem.
APPLAUSE. WHAT a talent.

It's nice to share - kiss someone when you have a cold.

Um, this was remarkable for being so short, bud.  Should peek in this forum a little more often me thinks.

Christopher

When I saw the title, I thought you must be writing about your new baby....

You do capture the feeling of a heavy heart so well in this.

This is true.

I like the return to the simple, direct poetry from you. Somehow it seems more genuine than your almost flamboyant endeavours of recent times; I can see more of you in this writing. Hm, I suppose I still think that imagery without over-imaging works best.

Congratulations btw.

Not sure how I missed this the first time around, but I'd have to agree with Kamla, love the brevity C...

You know what? I only just realised that this isn't recent. This shows to me, thinking as I did that this was a 'return', that your recent writings have truly departed from your beginnings.

Grumble - I'd have preferred this to have been a return dammit.

Me again.
