With the passing of the torch
the fire spat on needles dried.
years of tears beneath the porch--
a kindling of lover's sighs...
one roller skate beneath worn board,
and one half-pint of empty hoard...

memories be ill afford,
a yo-yo with a rotten cord.

And what is this within the dust?
Hotwheel--double-decker bus!
And there, a spoke of wheel once churned
remembering a skinned knee's burn...
Out back the fig tree full with fruit
purpled puce of young lips bruised...
licking lips of succulence--
so young to find my youth was spent.

The trellis, once was over there.
I learned to climb it on a dare.
My brother laughed as Daddy glared.
Next week? The trellis wasn't there.

The fires, back, behind the shed,
beneath the oaks, blankets were spread.
I knew not a word called "dread".
I never saw the eyes of dead.

I never saw the future pass,
like blades in bend of barefoot grass.
I never glimpsed the tears of gods
as I stared into the fog
of soft white downy swirl of sky
spirals sparkling in my eyes,
against hypnotic shade of blue--
unmatched until I first saw you.

Again, the passing of a torch...
I cringe behind a charcoal scorch.

Very melancoly....life has a way of ending up as bits and pieces of what we had/were/are. I'm liking this missy!

what you can do with rhymes, imagery, metaphor, and emote never ceases to amaze and touch me.

Its not like you to say sorry,
I was waitin on a different story.
This time I'm mistaken ...
for handing you a heart worth breaking.
