This is the title poem of my book of poetry - the one that someday I will have published. Few people have ever heard or read this. I'm sharing it with you all now because I feel the need to for some reason. It was written 13 years ago and is as fresh in my soul today as it was then.....

even the sturdiest blade of grass
can be trampled once too often

crushed beneath the uncaring boot
it will harden and never soften

so tread if you must upon my heart
shatter my trust like glass

but remember I am not a rock
I am
but a
blade
of
grass

I love this..reminded me of something someone told me once about grass...um, the kind you grow lawns with....   But he said, that you have to think like grass...that grass doesn't care if it's mown daily, weekly, or even at all....it just keeps growing! Thank you sharon, for popping in to give my *****y mind some rest tonight! lu

Nicely done Sharon!  I like the organization of the final stanza, it gave a great effect.  The rhyme was simple, but complimented the message wonderfully.
Just let me know when the book is out!

Very simple and succinct, Sharon, and all the stronger for such...reminds me of something you mentioned once: leaves of vine.

Testing, testing, one...two...

Yep, I think I can post here. *wink*

Alright, devine one, all I ever wanted to say to you, summed up in this little tiny itsy bitsy sentence:

Sharon, you are truly an inspiring person, simply because you are so real in your thoughts, so exceptional in your deeds, and you still get up at five in the friggin morning; not to mention, of course, that you manage to shine in every aspect of your writing, from the word choice to the metaphors, your imagery to your flow, from a to z and back again you have set a wonderful example for all the crazy crazy writers out there that are striving to be better, not just in writing, but in life; you are a goddess.

Outstanding!!!! Wow Sharon, this is truly wonderful! I really thought you did well expressing that you weren't some immortal being that couldn't be hurt and so on. You're human, and you feel. Very well done!
