There are no petals from a rose
strewn beside my sleepy head,
no fragrance there in tease of nose--
in fact, I do not share his bed.

I feel no joy upon his touch.
I spend my time within myself.
Yes, it's true, I've cried, "Enough!"
from too much bite of fires of Hell.

Do not cry for love in scar.
I will not beg a pity's tear.
I do not want the Hallmark Card.
Candied hearts--my greatest fear.

This is lonely--amplified--
counting tears as years go by...

Bet I can think of a candied-heart you'd say 'Hello' to!! Or just let you go on with your Bah Humbug to Valentine's. Either way, it's really just a day. Some days are just better than others.
