What I Really Want for Valentine's Day

Other poets write of passion
and flaming tongues of fire
of heated embraces caught
in the throes of desperate desire

What I want from you dear
is something quite unique
a moment of loving quiet
with the soulmate that I seek

To place my palm upon your heart
to feel the beating beneath my hand
to sigh in breath that you will feel
as together we humbly stand

Eyes locked in shared compassion
this is the closeness I desire
a simple touch upon your heart
is all that I require

How very peaceful and serene. Like listening to waves on an unpopulated beach, watching birds fly in the sky, or listening to river noises, at night staring at stars. No! More like holding hands with God. How wonderful. May God grant you your Valentine's day wish.

PDV, this is simple and very, very sweet. You managed yet again to bring a soft smile to my lips, and captured my feelings on the subject.

I think we are looking for the same thing.

I echo the praises and leave a quiet smile in understanding.
