Inked into the skin
tattooed memories
resurrect broken images,
as well as some that are fixed,
but fixed cheaply.

The reborn images play on closed eyelids
as if eyes were“Alabama steel”
holding, binding together
an old cracked television set.

Pictures permanently painted
show simply sympathy
forever faded into flesh.

It’s not like you didn’t know who I was,
as my name fell from your lips.

Broken.
