What I really want my valentine
Though I tried hard to explain
Is for you to always understand
Bring the clothes in when it rains

And what I hope from you my darling
While you're busy on the run
Is that when you iron you'll remember
Silk undies don't get done

You do well house-husband
But what I really want from you
Is to remember never starch
My camisole of blue

And I want you to recollect
As you sweep and mop and dust
Two are the things you cannot mix
It's our kids and canned kill-rust

And as you pull the vacuum
Round the house with kids attached
Please try hard not to scream
When you vacuum up the cat

What I really want this season
Is not the hearts or flowers
What a want is just a reason
To be alone for a couple of hours

Maybe catch a movie
It's been a year or more
I'm sure it would be fabulous
As long as I don't snore

What I really want my darling
As we snuggle in our bed
The bestest gift for this great day
Is a big sleep in instead.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Now you're talkin'!

This made me smile in memory of two babies and NO DRYER:

"Bring the clothes in when it rains"

They had to be carried up and down a flight of stairs too. That was LOVE!

Loved this one Keth, written with your wry wit and practical tone too.

This is so true, Keth...
I think number one on the list for every harried mother and housewife is a great nights sleep.  I think it must take until your kids are in their thirties and you don't have to worry about them anymore...til you can grab one of those.
