Where Shadows Walk The Night

Early mist bringing a damp chill
yet the sun shines brightly
A night spent without touch to thrill
of arms to hold tightly

Lost in a dream world of desire
where only phantom’s live
A place my heart goes to acquire
love that my soul may give

Strolling along a lonely beach
where shadows walk the night
I hold open my arms to reach
a lover in moonlight

As shapeless vapours drift my way
I reach into the dream
Molding them like a living clay
I create my own theme

Lovers embraced beneath the stars,
music plays on the wind
Unknown ecstasy would be ours
as passions we appease

I weave the scene with care and skill
knowing my heart’s desire
My fantasies again I’ll fill
each night as I retire

Though in my life there’s no romance
hopes and dreams I have still
Someday a man will take the chance
and all my dreams fulfill

Karen, this is very lovely and haunting too. Longing is so clearly and beautifully expressed. I hope you find that dream man.

Karen, in your dreams God gives you the essence of all your desires. And when you are ready He will give you the man of your desires.

I just knowthis will happen for you, Karen.  You are much too romantic a person to spend your life alone.

I love your work ... except ... I don't know about the phantoms part

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Karen, yours is only the second poem that I have looked at on this site.  I think it is gorgeous!  I enjoy beyond mere words when someone writes from their soul.  I once felt as this poem states.  It is indeed a hauntingly beautiful poem.

Good friends are like a vintage wine.
Sweeter and more cherished with time.

Karen, I think this is the answer, we will just have really wonderful dreams, and believe they are real life. As for the real life, let's just pretend it doesn't exist.
Gosh, I like this so much, you know I feel just the same way.
Valentine Hugs.

I love this! Romantic longing and dreaming that I can understand. But something happened to my dreams recently, and they started taking on a physical existence of reality. Keep dreaming, and keep sharing those romantic thoughts. They inspire!
