Mighty wings hovering mid sky
a carcass licker flies nigh
Patiently awaiting a fresh meal
natural causes or road kill

A simple bird,a simple life and job
licking a carcass as if its corn of the cobb
A vulture to some a dirty bird to me
the state of N.C's number one employee

Dear sp,
I have never heard the term 'carcass licker' til now. This is a great poem, and funny. But definitely not 'cute'.

I love this one, Stevie....If you ever get to Michigan, you have to visit the Road Kill Cafe.  This is a real place.  I've never been there, but they say the food is "good"
If you visit us here in Michigan, we can all go there together.  I hear that the waiters and waitresses are dressed up as vultures.

Stevie, there is no doubt they are some of the states best employees. At least they don`t stand around propped on a shovel.

Love you!

Funny poem. It brought a smile to my face. I like vultures though - even though they're disgusting. I know of park where there are always turkey vultures flying and circling high. I love to watch them in the sky when I'm at that park.

They are a very interesting bird. They are a flying obituary. When you see them flying you know something has died!
