Welcome to my humble abode
there's nothing to keep you
sinking into the ground
as you edge inside my threshold...shy?

Be brave, meet my hard wooden floor
its cracked surface waiting
for your young and precious step.
Courage, come forth!

Did you bow at the door
and take off your hat?
I didn't see
I am still quite lucid, but blind.

And you wiped your shoes
of the dark peaty soils of our lawns....
I am an old lady
still dressed in her white linen gown.

You can look at me oddly,
how can a lady remain fixed in time?
yet your eyes will not look so strangely
at a young girl you will meet...
a young girl, I want you to keep.

enjoyed the language and way you used your words in this. It speaks...and I love it.

For all who watch.Dare you say hello? Come in and ask the questions that are on your mind, but spare me your judgement until you truly sipped of me.

This is forst person dialogue that I like to get into more often. Ms Haversham, the lady that introduced Pip to the love of his life on Great Expectations, and she was fixed in time, at least that's the impression you got when you rad the book
