Ode To The Toyboy, or Why I’m Keeping My Signature Line

Some of you may wonder why I keep my old sig line
For now I have my duncan, and he really is devine
I’m collecting no more toy boys, but I keep the memory
For you see I find my signature means so much more to me

He’d seen me on these pages, and wondered what to do
So one day this dear boy had had his share of rum or two
And so set out to pen a rhyme, he called that one “toy boy”
Invited me onto the swings, thought he was being coy

But being quite the dense one, as I sometimes can be
I really didn’t think this poem he penned was meant for me
Until that lady midnitesun, she sent to me a mail
“Do you see he’s put a poem for you, answer him, don’t fail”

He thought he was so subtle, thought that no one else would know
(It wasn’t til much later I told him kacy’d told me so)
And so I set to put an answer to his lively rhyme
And told him it would be such fun to swing with him this time

The next night he did e-mail.. once again egged on by rum
We had no clue what would come of the friendship we’d begun
We talked of cars and other stuff, I swear I rambled like a loon
But he thought it was cute and said lets talk again real soon

Well friends most of you know by now that he has stole my heart
And I ain’t gonna let him go…at least I am that smart
And so I keep my sig for it’s a memory to me
Of how a simple toy boy rhyme became a love story

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Hey, as long as that Duncan toy is not a yo-yo I'm with ya!

It is fantastic that the two of you found each other, especially through your love of poetry......I wish you both the absolute best!

Noah, thanks so much you sweetie. I never thought when I came here that I would find love…but, I guess as the old saying goes, “when you least expect it”. And I’m so happy for you and your lovely Joanna. Some matches are just made in heaven.

Newell, thank you so much. I live with a perma grin these days.

Hey  Walker, yeah I think he will. I told him last night that I had a poem for him, but that he’d have to wait til tonight to see it. The suspense is killing him

Magnus, thanks for that. Glad you stopped in my friend

Nancy, yep, that’s why I’m keeping it….oh yeah…and to keep him on his toes too!!!

Rofl at you JM. A Duncan blow up doll…now who do I talk to about one of those??? I bet it’s a heck of a lot quieter than the real thing
And yep, I’ll keep the sig…and I’ll keep the poet!!

Sandra, you know…I think they will. Thanks for that sweetie.

Michael, well, he’s no yo-yo…just a bit nuts, but, that’s just how I like him, he cracks me up all the time. And you know, it still amazes me how we met...though, I’m just glad we did.

Hey Sue, nice to see you here. Thanks for the wishes my friend

Hi Trace
You know by now that my responses to your poems are never quite as perfect as yours are to mine.  And I'm always a bit late.  But you also know what this means to me.
And so I will simply say...we'll talk about this day, many years from now.  We'll tell folks just how we started out.  And we will laugh and love and we will...everything we've dreamed of.  I love you.  Thanks for playin' with me, darlin!  I'll swing ya, anytime!

Forgot, I'd wanted to respond to the content of your poem, Trace.  You know that I've never thought you should change your sig, I think it's cute...like you!  Though, I am glad to hear ya won't be collecting anymore toy boys, darlin.
And Janet Marie, what my one day sig said was, 'honk...if you think Tracey's got enough toy boys'.  Like she said, if it hadn't been for her sig, I would never have written that first silly poem for her.  Oh and, I love the idea of a Duncan action figure!  A superhero that writes poetry.  I love it!

Really great and really wonderful, Tracey.
It just goes to show you that the best time to find love is when you're not looking for it.  I'm happy for both of you and I hope you both have a wonderful Valentine's Day.

Ah Dunc, you know I always love your responses. And yes, what a great story it will be. Love you darlin

Larry, thank god for the power of rum and poetry!!

Kacy, yes, it was a magical moment…and thank you so much for pointing it out when I was being dense. We both owe you a big hug

Blue, yes, I’m a sucker for a happy ending too…even more so when it’s my own. And yeah, love that rum too…even though I don’t drink it!!! Lol

Ah, my darlin Dunc again…no, I think one toy boy is enough…especially when he’s such a handful as you are!!! Lmao….and yeah, you’re my superhero writing poetry

Jbaker, thank you for that lovely comment…I do appreciate it muchly

Michael, yes my friend, you have indeed. At the time, even I didn’t think it would turn out as well as it has. Hugs to you too my friend
