I am sorry when winter wilts shy
and leaves us, wondering.
Little birds, mid-flight undecided,
red berry in cheek and a gun.
No squealing lights or snow surrounding,
no timber bare, to dress or dream.
Little birds, little birds, screaming.
Iron tracks hand laid and worn,
splitting a forest still waiting in two.
For you. For winter holding and the worry.
I am sorry. Sorry when spring is unsure,
peeking through in yellow too,
warmth on a wing in the mood.
Or when she’s weeping charcoal and afraid,
waiting wary out of winter with a view.
Little birds turning - back the tracks again.

SpitFire--You do have a way with words and make a small thing into a picture with feelings attached...a true poet!  Peace to you, your wish returned.

you have that way of touching that part of a person that speaks to the soul. . .

just thought that you should know my friend. . . peace to you. . .

excellent, really a wonderful crafting you've done here.  I'd like to read more from you, I remember a few from a long time ago but havne't seen you lately. Takes time to write a good poem though, doesn' it?

This has such a forlorn feel...the ending of one thing, the tentative beginnings of another...in life, death, and death feeding all of life...

very, Very well done....

As a little bird, I felt the terror of being trapped between the threat of being hunted and the uncertainty of the weather....when all I ask for is a dry safe branch, a berry, peace and harmony.

Peace to you, sweet poet friend.
