Left Behind Valentine

Come this special day, I shall
wrap myself in phantom thoughts of you,
travel the distance, to sit upon
a once shared place.

Moments spent will return
to fill this mind, watching, waiting
for your casual gait,
for you to stride towards me.

As the phantom-you approaches,
my eyes will light up, meeting yours,
searching yours, to feel their touch
upon my own, one last time.

Many days have past since the last,
yet the feelings have remained warm.
I shall leave behind a rose for you,
ribbon bound, benched with a message attached:

"A rose, my feelings of a once upon love.
Left behind memories, to fill emptiness of..."

This is touching, Maureen. The last two lines just about say it all. How beautifully you did this.

Maureen,
All those years add up to a lot of memories. Some good and some bad. But now just memories. I hope you have now the opportunity to create new memories. I like your poetry and your ability to emote into your poems. You do it so well. I truly wish you a happy Valentines.

Okay, Maureen, I'll ask one more time .... Have you fixed that door yet?
Beautiful piece!

Maybe it will wait patiently for him to return to the bench.

Solemn romance... and written with flair unique to you. *s

Lyra, I  have no wish for Valentines Day any longer...it was a special day once for me and will only be an ending for me today when I place my rose and words for someone else to receive it and maybe make them feel special.

Noah, again your words are always sweet and full of promise. Thank you for the smile they bring.

Sandra, this is a goodbye..I wish you well.

Larry C,
Thank you  for always responding with such encouragement. I hope you continue to enjoy the responses and friendships you have gained with your words. Maybe we will meet again...and mine will be of a happier time.

Interloper, My door is fixed...sorry *s

Pilgrimage ...I too, ache when  reading this..thank you.

Victoria...probably the clean up crew..but that's ok...it is the finishing touch of  feelings that  must end. Thanks  ~V  for everything, always.

chansondegeste, doubt it...but I am sure someone will see the beauty in my words and  hold onto them at least until the flower wilts.

~~Jeff~~ stunning...I don't think so..truthful, honest and sincere...yes.

Thank you all for reading me today and in the past...Unlike many on here, who say they are leaving but can't follow through...I am gone after my responses today. I wish you  much happiness and successes as I try to find mine in real.((Hugs)) to those who know the power in words.
