ink of my tears

with the ink of tears that have never gone dry,
i've traced your smile a million times
across and over the 38th parallel of my mind.
mindless, memory-scented, doodles on lip-stained
napkins on a thousand tables across
the country where your stories have been,
i trace with mounting joy, ascending sorrow,
all the years we had between.
the fireflies we chased across star-kissed
nights -- i've set them free yet bottled them
all in the widest reaches of my heart.
and doodling still...all we might have done better
before your life went over the great divide,
on a greater journey i might have shared with you
if you had waited a while.
divided griefs, multiplied gladnesses;
i will trace those cares with the ink of my tears,
and the well-remembered sound of your tread
up the waiting stairs,
till withered cheeks, and what remains of my life,
is truly said, unsaid, and done.

Oh MY I do LOVE the way you write.
Have I ever said Welcome here yet? Geesh..I should have! The doors should have swung wide open and loudly for you. I love your work !

For all who watch.Dare you say hello? Come in and ask the questions that are on your mind, but spare me your judgement until you truly sipped of me.

You are a gifted writer~~~~~and remind me what poetry is......I'm bumping this up so it can be read again.

Beautiful writing ... nice name
I wrote a poem once, called Quiet Water
...
Reaching out to greet the dawn
nature's need of love
lives on
Within the waters
'neath the sky
treasures hide
from wasted eye
But
when caring souls
tend quiet water
their senses reap
the gifts of bother
