The gavel drops and a hush quiets the crowd
My heart beats a drumming so loud
I can fell it in my throat
and I feel as if I am going to choke.
Am I broken before my oppressor?
For standing tall am I the lesser?
I know I have done many wrongs
But aren't my Rights just as strong?
Can I go on in my confusion?
or is this just an illusion
of all that is to come in my future?
Oh how my spirit longs for a suture!
for the blood of my life is spilling,
and the bucket of inhumanity if filling,
overflowing at the brim of reality
so that I can no longer see
only that which is distorted
And my life is continually contorted
into different shapes and I feel as stone
Will this ever end so that I may go home?
Yet, where is the home I long for?
behind door number one or under your floor?
Stop looking at me with that look of pity
I spit in your face and trot off toward the city.
Even there though I am still lost
And the price to pay is too high a cost
So I fall at the feet of the mercy of the court
and bow my head waiting for the word to come forth.
No words are said as I stand in my silence
But a rustle in the wind strengthens my reliance
and then a gentle hand lifts me up by my chin
"Fear not young man, I give you your pardon"

Very perceptive.  It is judgement day.  Being in that hotseat has got to be the worst feeling in the world, whether it be in the earthly court or the celestial one!!

Very well done!!

Just believe...

Very nicely done and I loved these lines...
"No words are said as I stand in my silence
But a rustle in the wind strengthens my relianc"

The older I grow, the less important the comma becomes.
Let the reader catch their own breath."

jfreak,
very neatly done...it had me wondering to the end whether he would get off or not.
Write on

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Thank you everyone for your comments...   they are always encouraging and as for you my dear Nan...I have been around...I check in from time to time and post every now and then in, but only in Spirituals... but I have been really busy b/c I have only 20 more days and then I am out of the Corps.  So as you see everything has been extremely busy lately.
