Reading causes you to faint
you have a whole house to paint
the decorators have not come
and the wash of the week is still undone.

Baby is crying for a bottle
single mom or dad in time of trouble?
writing causes you to shake
fear of exams creates a wake.

The walls need new paint and plaster
reading has its advantages to master;
decorations are not your thing
nothing is, when the mind's in a sling.

so the chores of the house continues to climb
you ignore your present and keep up your decline;
you cultivate your fear of knowing
and still you skirt the moments of growing.
