She Left Me
By Larry Chadwick

My baby done left me,
She grew up and went away.
I hated when that happened,
But it ain’t right to make her stay.

I knew that it was time,
She had to make her own way.
Little girls are like that,
It ain’t right to make them stay.

My baby done left me,
It was time for her to go.
But even though she’s gone,
Lord, how I love her so.

February 4, 2002

That's almost how it happened! This is for my fabulous daughter Ginger who lets me call her Toots. I love you baby! And always will. Pops

Pepper,
Nothing sweeter then Daddy's girl! Ever! It's old news but worth writing about. I miss her!

James,
Needs a blues tune! Thanks.

Well Bill,
The options aren't that attractive. Just miss my baby!

Larry - I can almost hear the blues beat reverberate in my office when I read this poem.

This is a sweetheart of a poem, Larry...
I still remember my Dad crying at my wedding when I was 21 yrs old.  Of course I had been away at college for 4 yrs...but somehow that isn't quite the same!

Larry,
all this needed was a guitar strum and the man would be singing the blues...growing up is hard for kids and it's even harder for the parents.
