Mermaid Wedding
By: Noah Eaton
2/3/02

The mermaid combs her hair with a coral brush
As her brothers present to her a wedding gown
Passed down to her from her ancestors, hinted in blush
Encrusted in pearls, fashioned out of gossamer and eiderdown

Her long amber hair is sprinkled with lupines
The hems of her dress drape down to her fins, notched in bobbin lace
She sits in her mother's Hepplewhite chair, recovered from Atlantis's confides
Closing her eyes as her friendly seamstresses polish her face

From a sapphire cruet, her body is balmed in freesia
Her body now scented with the aromatic essence of matrimony
As his body is lathered in the juice of the cherimoya
His flesh now glazed to the manly passion of eternity this briny wedding...

The dolphins lead these soulmates together on opposite sides of the ark
Decorated with festoons of jasmine and heather and pearl chandeliers
As mischievious little sea horses greet the couple as the priest starts
Husband and wife wearing sapphire coral rings in ceaseless cheer

As both merman and mermaid declare "I do!", the waters fill with bubbles
Rainbow streamers casting out among all the coral reefs with exploding light
As he takes her into his tender arms, lifting her veil, kissing her soft and slow
All the fish of the sea spinning around them, painting all the colors of loves delight

Kissing passionately in tears, he helps her up into a lovers canoe
Electric eels and fairy shrimp lighting the evening sea with firefly light
As dolphins and barracudas perform somersaults in the beginning of a fevered honeymoon
Fevered in the bliss of heavenly love, in the heart of this crystal night...
