Sleepy River (Answer to BC's challenge)

As I float slowly down, calm slow waters, aglow
Lying on my back in a small raft, slow
Gazing at stars, looking for Venus, Mars
Wondering about my darling, off so far.

Across the shore a lighted house, twinkles
The moon glows a quarter, water sprinkles
All Creation is asleep, now dreaming
'Cept for night creatures somewhere slowly screaming.

Croaking frogs, a few fish, a turtle swim
I wonder, is she still thinking of him?
All is calm, all serene just lonesome sights
Just floating down this Sleepy River, tonight.

Newell darling boy utterly wonderful Iā€™m loving this challenge you know it all started with an off the cuff remark of mine to Bill and there we were a challenge is born.

And it is utterly wonderful the way others have joined in. This is utterly utterly wonderful so visual so dreamlike I love it. I can almost see your Sleepy River, I expect it will join mine at the next bend. And then you can turn your raft and float alongside my Ship of Dreams. Mmmmmmm Wonderful writing darling boy absolutely wonderful

Love and warm stuff

Thank you, Karen, for your beautiful thoughts and questions. Who was he dreaming of, Mmmmmmm. Now if I tell you who is she, what will King Solomon's other 699 wives think. LOL... And her dream, well..., don't think it was about the King.  O am I bad. But you knew that didn't you. Thanks for reading. I send you hugs, ((Karen)).

"There is a river where the streams of life made glad the city of God"

and your poem is beautiful and YOU are beautiful.  Newell, you did more for me in one question than anyone has been able to do for me for 2 years!!!!!!!!!!

i love you dear friend, I just love you to pieces.  No, "she" doesn't write poetry, by God, and she never will I do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

your poems have given me a blessing and i will write but silence and meditation and time alone with God is needed now. thank you for being part of this forum for the inspiration your poems give to me and I'm sure others as well.
