Listening to every heart

Recollecting Memories

I must have walked the green that day
A red-haired maiden gone astray
Across the hills of Ireland
I must have walked the green that day

The muse and music call again
Fairies keen and brogue within
Somewhere deep within my skin
I must have come from Ireland

Far and away the mists still call
Down the lane stands he so tall
I must have walked the green that day
As my feet still feel the music’s sway

They say that magic’s left this world
But I would bid you wrong, dear Sir!
For across the winds of time it comes
The music that makes my heart still stir!

By ‘lectric candle’s lighting, dear
I hear the pipe and fiddle play
And I walk again the greener fields
A red-haired maiden gone astray

For music and muse they call again
Fairies keen and brogue within
Somewhere deep within my skin
My thoughts take me to Ireland

Oh Kari, I feel as though I should be singing this one and not just reading it.  Talk about 'the lilt of Irish laughter', this one has a rhythm and rhyme that made me want to sing it out loud.  Beautiful!
Thank you for this gem!

And even if you aren't Irish, you ought to be.  This is beautiful, Karilea, just like your sweet spirit.

This is very well done.  I think some of your best are when you feel yourself of another generation.  Thanks for sharing it.  Ken
