An angel's heart holds steadfast my peaceful core this night,
Curled locks upon her hallowed head cast such golden gleams,
As her playful azure eyes sparkle such in merry and delight,
And beauty from her rosy smile like a springtime river streams.

Her gentle fingers strum the chords of her ancient gilded lyre,
The graceful notes lifting through the crystal fluted air,
Rising unto caelic heights atop God's vaulted spire,
Chordant tunes that had trapped mortals in its crafted snare.

The souls of these, bowing down before the sacred being,
Offerred unto her all they were worth to accord her love,
And she, her blessed soul intact, picked one, a fool unseeing,
A man who saw himself as the lowest yet strove for her above.

The two joined as one beneath a laurel on the grassy earth,
The feelings of the man peaked to be more soaring than ever were.
Through her eyes and by her lyre he yet saw his worth,
And the highest notes that rose came to be of he and melodic her.

And still her gilded lyre plays tunes unto the tranquil evening star,
For I was the man and you the angel when we became one together,
My love of you sings to the heavens of your distant home afar,
Nothing there is more divine to me than you my dear sweet Heather.

I just had to reply to this one, Streen...
In Greek mythology it was Lyra, the muse of lyric poetry who played the lyre.
This is a beautiful poem, thanks for sharing it with us.
