Oh poets true, oh what to do... I love a man who's in full view Yet, another preys and wants my days While the other gives all that he may The one must hide, oh, my favorite shoe, This one I love who's in plain view. He has my heart, though I've never told And jokes of rocking chairs as we grow old The other screams my thoughts out loud And invites me life outside the shroud Normal days, with sense of play "More than a friend," he wants to say. The one is kind and ever true He knows my soul, he knows my blues My secrets linger within his mind He's held me close while my tears unwind I cannot love the other so Temptation lies in untread snow To laugh and play outside the walls I want those things...yet, cupid calls. Hope fades inside my aching heart To have this man loved from the start There is no other's heart to break But we would lose a place to stake Oh poets true, oh what to do...
