In quiet moments of earthly despair
I turn and find no one is there
my heart is bruised and full of pain
I’ve given too much of myself again

Tears coursing rivers on my cheek
sobs silence in a voice so weak
reaching out to find no one there
in my quiet moments of earthly despair

Have you felt this earthly despair
have you sought someone to care
only to find an empty space
no comforting arms, no smiling face

Once more I reach out to find you there
and once more I find you do not care
tears dried, I move on from this place
to hide away in my heart’s disgrace

Deeper will I go into this shell
withdrawn no more from hermit's hell
in quiet moments of earthly despair
I learn to forget, I learn not to care

*sigh* I could have written this poem but not nearly as well as you have....My heart breaks for you that you are at the point where you are feeling such despair...**big big hugs** I hope and pray that the pain and empty feeling fades, dear one.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Beautifully written, PDV...poetry is such wonderful therapy...but I really do hope that this isn't about yourself.

This is very sad, Poet and I do think that at one time or another we have all been there. This seemed to have come from deep down inside and is a good strong write. floria

Thank you all for you kind comments. I do think although I wrote it as fictional, it comes close to being ME at times.

The Devine IS found in the giving,
in the sharing
as the song goes
you are not alone in being alone
and it is easier to forgive than forget
but unless we do forget
we can not forgive ourselves
very touching piece.
speak and I shall listen..........

I have felt this many times, and your poem reminded why I will never feel it again.  I really enjoyed this one, very well done in content and style.

Despair can be such an overwhelming feeling. You've written this kind of pain eloquently, and with great tenderness.

Oh, my heavens... If we must lead parallel lives, I'm going to file a complaint that you got all the talent! *G* It may be fiction... but it's pure truth... and this heart recognizes every word. *S*

This is superb, PDV.

Poet deVine... I know how you feel. I was in the pits of despair, and turned to someone I thought would help me. They just made it worse, made me doubt myself even more, made me a laughing stock and completely betrayed my trust. I do hope, as others have said, that it is fiction. But if it isn't, I understand your pain.

The very act of this distressingly sad write proves you do and shall always care.

There is a lonely heart behind these lines.  What other kind of heart could have written this?  The words flow, and carry the same message through each verse... "Are you there?  Do you care?"  Wonderfully written, and so sad.

Poet deVine, this is such a sad, but lovely written jewel of poetry. Let me respond in a poem, "Love's finest wine", posted in a new thread, which you, dear one, inspired.

That's when the lines start to blur, when art imitates life.  Very well done.

Thank you.
