Perhaps I just reveal myself
in order to subside
the danger of receiving love--
I show myself to hide.

Something in me
won't believe
that I am worthy
to receive
so I sing
a song of shrew
hastening
the sad adieu...

There is less pain
when nothing's gained,
it's better not to love at all...
I cannot bear
the frigid air
that does not break an angel's fall.

True words sung as a song of shrew...
Sometimes is so hard to let yourself let
others in...Fearing the letdown of love
lost...

To let others in, to risk the pain.  Isn't that what love is all about?

Makes you think, thank you.

in and out of romantic scenes as we dance around the stage of life,
liked your final stanza very much!

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Karen, I know just what you're saying, and though indeed love always has its difficulties and heartbreaks, I believe that it is better to have loved than to have never loved at all, for if we never take the stride forward for it, we will only feel lonely always and we will be vague of memories and wisdom, and love is what makes me happy! (big hugggssssss) Always listen to your heart, sweet friend, for the sparrow will always rejoice to one true love for you! We all love you so much, sweet friend, this is fabulous! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Now you've gone and done it..you wrote about ME this time!

Well done..and I don't think this is you at all..you couldn't be a shrew if you tried.

Karen, I understand this feeling so much!  Sometimes it is better not to let ourselves fall in love for fear of it not working our and having to endure the pain later.....but, you? a shrew? nay, not you!!

Shriek me a song,
Make it loud and make it long,
Disrupt the plans people made,
Be a raging shrew
If that’s what you want do,
Then I turn back on my hearing aid.

And then we’ll talk
Calmly

Take my calmness to replace your rage,
Take the time to redecorate your cage,
Be yourself most of all
For it’s what you’ll always do best
And you always pass that test,
And you’ll never fall.

A single step walk
Calmly

serenity,
Your name so belies your poetry. I too live for the contradiction of all things. The irony in this is what fuels the spirit to produce what otherwise would not be said. If this be madness, then let us have at it!

I happen to have a great fondness for shrews. How bizarre. But have you ever watched the shrews? They never give up.

(you're no shrew baby)
heart-hugs for this one.

We wish ourselves beautiful ...
and cry in the night.
It's not the love you feared ...
but the fall from the height.

yes, I can relate to this also, there is much I will never reveal again and that's a sad feeling, such an ache in this poem.

Heartfelt write and I loved it!
However, I take exception ... "It is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all."  else, how would we know what we missed?
Write on!

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.
