The Taking Down

I've been packing up my wishes,
my dreams and hopes come true.
For one full year I kept it up
because of thoughts in blue.
But now I know the truth for real
and when the day is through,
I'll be packed and on my way,
I'm moving on to new.

Several years ago, I had
put up my Christmas Tree.
Then unbeknownst my Dad caught ill
and died then suddenly.
I couldn't, no I couldn't take it down
when New Year came.
The hurt was so enormous
and I left it up, the same.

And when the February warmth
of valentines arrived,
I strung my cards once meant for him
and hung them as I cried.
I did the same when Father's Day
in June had come that year,
each and every card I  placed
was for my Father dear.

No one can understand how much
this changes all for me,
the taking down of hopes and dreams,
my treasured meaning tree.
I use to think that someday soon
you'd be here and we'd share
the lighted moments, memories made
of tender loving care.

Some words today, more spoken
left me sad in disbelief.
Have added to distraught me more,
to leave with now more grief.
I'd never thought the hurt would ever
rise in me more pain.
But you have made it very clear
'twas never love, to reign.

And so this saga ends this day
what once to me thought grand,
my tree of loving memories,
the holding of your hand.
The kiss from lips that must have lied
to satisfy each need.
This was a dream, become nightmare,
as I must now concede.

"For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart.
It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul."
(J.Garland)

Letting go is not conceding, sweet lady.
Have you boarded up that door yet?

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Maureen, this is the saddest thing I've read in a long time.
Hard to know what to say to something this deep, check your email ok?

Maureen...sometimes our dreams are only a
dream...something that makes our day a little
brighter...Sadly...they sometimes are dashed
and certainly do hurt...very much so...I
hope that your days become brighter and that
one day you find the answer to your dreams..

Never to be put away, and always to be saved.

Thank you.
