I watch you sleep, big boy of ten.
A mother's thoughts slide back in time.
The sweetest things you did back then.
That warmed this Maternal heart of mine.

Fat diapered rear and chubby arms.
Your bow legged wobble when you walked.
Won many hearts with your baby charms.
The funny little way you talked.

Your favorite friends Burpt and Ermie.
Small cherished toys I packed and kept.
You'd count everything, one, two and frwee.
Funny your face was the same when you slept.

I see you now and how much you've grown.
Body stretching to become a man.
I know some day you'll leave me alone.
Until then I cherish each moment I can.

Remember me with a smile on your face, or please don't remember me at all.

I don't understand a mothers love but I hope to one day.I remeber what you say tho an cherish every moment to come

Lucie, it's strange but I don't think it matters if they are 1, 10, or 30, you will always remember and treasure those special moments. This is lovely.
