A mean icky sticky poison tick

I'm a little bitsy wing-less bug that likes to hug
And I live in woods where you walk and sit, and in a little bit
I will crawl into your flesh and I'll make you sick
I'm a tick, a little tiny tick, a parasite tick and I like to stick
And I'm a blood sucking tick and I'll make you sick.

I can bring you bad disease that will never please
I carry bacteria that will eat on you; you'll be poisoned too
I'll give you a rash where I mesh your flesh
Then you may think you only have the flu, but it's me not you
Cause I never ever please when I give disease.

I give spotted fever, Lyme disease, cause paralysis too
Tularemia, sometimes called deerfly or rabbit fever flu
And my ehrlichiosis will even kill you soon.
So when you go into the woods you better watch for me
As I climb tall grass and sit on leaves and parts of trees.

So cover skin, arms and knees, wear light clothes to help see me
Have a grown up look all over you skin to see if I got in
Use sterile tweezers to pull me out straight, then disinfect too
See a doctor soon, watch for symptoms too. Better do it quick!
I'm a mean icky sticky poison tick! And I love to make you sick!

I am really afraid of these tiny things Newell, and my grandson always wants to go into the woods, We use a lot of spray, which I also hate, Nice educational poem. floria

Hi floria! Just have your grandson follow there guidelines. Dress him in light clothing and don't let him bare much skin.  Have him be careful of walking in weeds or sitting on or handling logs, dead wood or debris. Put him in the shower afterwards, and inspect him. Should you find one, pull it STRAIGHT out with tweezers. And have him check out by a doctor. Also, if you have any small pets, look them over, too.
