Just the sight--
her silhouette
icing-fog--
Bayou Segnette...
Cypress tree
of gray and blue
a frost of moss
splayed on the moon
River wide
and muddied deep
legends kept
as liars sleep
pirates
boasting piracy
they toast the ghost
of Jean Lafitte...

There is aura of the old.
Bricks, uneven, caked with mold.
There is presence in the air--
the magick of being aware.

My feet are sure
upon these streets.
Inhaling home,
the dead can breathe.
All the levies
of belief,
must contain
Mississippi.

I walk these roads
in perfect trust.
I know the cracks
and patterned dust...
Inhaling home--
a comfort's meal
all reality's
surreal...
Inhaling home--
serenity...
Home again.
Finally free.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

You do know how cool this poem is dont you?
I love the imagery in this, and its certain haunted yet inviting appeal. That first verse is so cool, With the Rams being there, they are showing lots of New Orleans sights and sounds to us on the news, and it all has such a deep and rich history and sense of "magick" about it.
And? only you could come of with "levies
of belief"   Ya mean thats whats holds back the rhyme water???
(vials baby send vials)rofl

(smiles) YAY!!! Ooohhhhhhh...I love it, sweet friend, I dream of going back down to New Orleans to see the architecture and gaze upon the Mississippi! I grew up by the Mississippi. Have wonderful memories walking, fishing and just relaxing along the river. I go back now and then. There's no place like home. Thanks for the memories.
