The Depth of Greeneyes
By Larry Chadwick

It wasn’t those green eyes,
As rich as they are.
Or those luscious lips,
The fullest by far.

It was in the heart
And beauty of her words,
That she revealed
What my soul heard.

For it was only looks,
That are skin deep.
But true beauty,
Can make us weep.

Tender gentle thoughts,
Revealed by what she writes.
Pain and sensitivity,
Exposed by this lifes frights.

Truth requires bravery,
And that she oft’ reveals.
It’s what is deep inside,
That to my mind appeals.

Larry~

You have such a tender heart....and in no way can I express how these words make me feel....I am so humbled by this....really....and so thank ful for understanding of words and rambles I spill on these pages.... and so humbled that you and others read and can respond as you do....I know time will heal what I have going on right now...I have faith in that....from my heart thank you..yes I love this a treasure for my keeping.. but in a somewhat happy way....

Lauren,
It is heartbreaking to watch someone struggle and not be able to help. Life just isn't fair. You deserve so much better. If it helps...know I care. (Geuss you can't take the social worker out of a former social worker.)  I just care okay and would love to find a way to make a difference. larry And by the way, for what little I've done you're welcome.

So Chrissy,
What is the right age? Glad to know I made GREAT guys list. But that way too old thing well, I probably resemble that. LOL Thanks.

How very true Larry, beauty is only skin deep. I knew a very beautiful woman once, at the place where I worked. And when she opened her mouth, she was ugly. How true this is. great poem. floria

Larry, this is a beautiful tribute to a wonderful person and writer.  I love the way she writes and have told her just that on many occasions.  Her exquisite style...her words just seems to cascade like tears down the page.  She is a real sweetheart!
It was so very nice of you to pen this for her.

Oh! And, you are not old!  Because what would that make me?

And....I too have green eyes!

Been there. Thank you so much.

Nancy Lee,
I never think I'm old...it's the world out there and I don't care. LOL So I choose to make light of it. And thanks Lauren is a sweetie.

Juanita,
That wasn't the intent but rather a benefit. Thanks.

JM,
A compliment from a wonderful poet...thank you and yes she is.

Noah,
I'd be glad to be considered in her company anyday. Thanks.

Larry, her beauty goes much farther than skin deep indeed.  She has been to me, and is like an angel who oft picks me up to help me stand strong when I have fallen.  I am glad I did not miss this.  I am sure she is smiling, and perhaps a tear also.  Hugs to you.

Larry, your tenderness is flowing again. Lauren really does write captivating, heartfelt poetry. Her words are always like a misty soft dream, but I always feel a real woman's heart in them. And you, my dear friend, are doing an amazing job of 'capturing' poetic personalities. BRAVO!!!
