There they sit, still unopened
on my new basement floor
do I dare open them now, and unleash
all those memories
memories so full of before

their contents, I know...only too well
emotions of laughter and grief and love
feelings too heady to quell

pictures of pieces of life flood my soul
pieces broken apart
no longer whole

photos, momentos of happy times past
boxes of memories, life goes by
too fast

a husband, so healthy...looking into my eyes
a memory now
a part of me that has died

pictures of my children
two cute little boys
oh what I'd give now
to again hear their noise

one moved away
and one died last year
a once happy family
sliced in half in one year

boxes of memories
all full of my past
a life fully lived
going by, much too fast

and here I sit now
my life starting anew
a new home, a new love
a fresh start for two

but these boxes of memories
refuse to go away
perhaps I'll go through them
on some other day

Lyra darling girl I really love this poem it is UTTERLY utterly fabulous.
Yes I know I always say that but then you always write to utter perfection. I wouldn’t have to say it was absolutely perfect if you didn’t always write so well would I? No exactly

Truly outstanding writing you are such a wonderful writer I cannot say too often how wonderful your writing is and YES it's inspiring I love it love it love it

Love and warm stuff
As always

Lyra,
Nothing is required before you're ready! Courage friend, courage. And I know you have it through your faith.

Ohhhhhhh...it may not help, but I am so sorry for your loss...I wish you peace and strength for whenever you are ready to walk down those paths again....

barrier of my mind,
enter my soul,
feel my desire,
let my eyes guide you

Oh my Madame C, you have touched my heart. I know all about these feeling. I go to the box, then turn away, should I look? No I can't. Someone wants a picture I must go into that box. No I can't. The ones hanging on the walls in frames are wonderful reminders, but the ones in boxes..intermingling with the family, love happiness, joy, all gone..I just can't go there. Oh you have done well with this poem.
And it really helps to write it out doesn't it. All my love to you. floria

Again as in part 1...I would like to thank everyone for their replies...but this has been a busy week, so I just don't have time to answer everyone individually...but I really do appreciate your replies.
