They say that songs of love
turn heartbeats into scores.
But I'm feeling like a singer
whose words are lacking worth.
My mind goes spinning backwards
when her sweet lips speak my way.
and I pray for some inner strength
to say what I should say.

Her beauty stalls my reason
when her eyes look straight through me
then I see her with some other guy
so I never speak my piece.
Like a curse that blankets virtue
I speak through a ghost of words
and though they might seem open
they're not what I want heard.

Chorus:
So if truth makes the best of love
then silence is a scream
but I can't seem to open up
and let it out of me.
I'm lost and lonely deep inside
the silence of a scream.

She comes to me so pleasently
and her words of choice thrill me.
I vision her within a space
where my heart is filled with peace
where I tell her everything I feel
beyond my foolish pride
but then I feel that same old hurt
when she's with the other guy

So if truth makes the best of love
then silence is a scream
but I can't seem to open up
and let it out of me.
I'm lost and lonely deep inside
the silence of a scream

The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up
spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to
re-language historie

I heard this silent scream from the far and wide of the song from which it came...well done Ethome...I'm liking this VERY much.

Eric...I think you let a bit of the heart break around the scream out in this song of tormented love.  Wonderful writing, as always..and a haunting refrain.

E-babes is singing some powerful blues...
this just aches off the page...haunting.
I can hear the wailing guitars and even a harmonica crying ...
very cool song Eric...so deep and emotive.
A good "cry in your beer" song

I'm like a broken record that you can play ...
Repeating (as if it matters) ... everything I say.

Wow!

This is a beautiful melancholy...this really touches me more than I can explain at the moment~

Into my library this goes

Take care,

Eric, the scream is heard, and felt. I sure wish I could hear you sing and play this one.
"Chorus:
So if truth makes the best of love
then silence is a scream
but I can't seem to open up
and let it out of me.
I'm lost and lonely deep inside
the silence of a scream."
You're just screaming with emotion in this chorus, and some of us not only heard, but remembered.

PS. I 'borrowed' the title and included it into a medley of titles. Plese don't sue!
