We’re dealt a hand by Fate, and Time’s
The master of the draw.
The aces don’t come every day,
Some hands see none at all.

Our lives are subject to the rules
Of arbitrary lot.
We chase the rainbows like old fools,
But seldom find the pot.

When love and laughter come too soon,
Sometimes we run away
To chase another, brighter moon-
Too caught in dreams to stay.

How often Fate must bear the blame
For lives lived less than well-
When we ourselves will strike the flame
And glory in our hell.

Nan,
we don't see enough of your writing and the gods and fates must have had a hand in this wondrous write.

Nan darling girl I think this is utterly utterly spectacular. The flow the construction the rhythm all combine to make this a truly outstandingly fabulous poem. Rarely is writing this good, certainly this far exceeds my expectations and my expectations for you are always high. YOU are a very good writer and this proves it.

Do you know how special your writing is. As beautiful as jewells and far too rarely seen.

Give me more darling girl give me more. Please, winning smile, pretty please I hope it works

(big hugggsssssss) So very sad, sweet friend, fate can always bring tears and pain to each of us, but if we can only accept what makes us happy and keep hope in our hearts, with awareness we can seek out what we want and overcome fate! (sad sigh) So sad but beautiul, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Nancy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Dear sp,
Thanks-I'm glad you liked the writing. I'm the only one I know who can set out to write something cute and end up with a sermon. Sigh.

Dear Noah,
Thanks for reading my poem and saying such nice things about it. I didn't start out to write a sad one. These things just happen to me. I have no idea why.

Dear Nan, your wisdom is so beautifully worded. Not like my mom's sermons at all, dear lady. One must wonder were you have acquired so much knowledge of life. Cheryl

Dear Cheryl,
You can wonder all you want to, but I'm not telling. (Oh, well, ply me with chocolate and I'll tell you anything.)

Dear Floria,
Thank you. Those words just came out of the air and had to be written. As I said, I started out to write something cute, but it wrote itself different. It's a total mystery to me.
