"Patience."
That's what 'they' say.
"Wait for love to come to you."
"You can't hurry destiny."
But the waiting
is
so
hard ...
it makes me want to pull out
each
and
e
v
e
r
y
hair
on my head.
And I'd offer the strands as a sacrifice
if I thought Fate would take them,
spinning the locks into a fragrant net
to ensnare my lover,
capturing him in my arms
where he belongs.

But no ...

for now, he wanders the world,
also searching for what his soul is longing,
seeking out his heart's fulfillment,
yearning for our bliss-to-come.
If only a megaphone
or a cellular
would do the trick,
or maybe I could hire the Enterprise,
and beam him into my life.

I grow impatient with each passing day,
wondering if we'll ever be together.

Please, Cupid ...
can't I just flip the pages,
skip the chapters,
and turn to the ending
where everything is revealed in its entirety?

Don't keep me pouting ...

Oh, I know it's cheating,
like eating dessert first,
but depriving my sweet tooth of pure sugar
and trying to substitute
all these packets of Equal
that taste totally traitorous,
only wanting to take a swim in my coffee,
is an even bigger crime.

~What is cherished most is what must be the hardest fought for.~

DarkAngel, this is awesome. I have a saying in my kitchen, It says
" Eat dessert first, Life is too short"
Now the part about pulling out your hair. Ouch...nice write. floria

Dear Dark,
I like this one. I like the way you arranged it and the word choices. The images are captivating. I know the feeling you're describing here, and you describe it well.

You have a sweet tooth for poetry!!!!!
This made me think of when I was younger and thought NO ONE would ever want me and I would wait and wait and wait.....(sometimes I still wonder

DarkAngelChelle,
you keep writing away those waiting hours and I will keep reading, that way we will both be happy. Good write

Chelle...this is an amazing poem.  I really liked the format....it heightened the emotions which you portrayed so very well.

DarkAngelChelle, very nice poem. And I always thought that you should eat desert first. Isn't that the only way to know that you'll have room for it.
