Ill remember like the lantern of dawn
a deer prancing with her brown-nose fawn
awakening spirits of a sleepy morn
still kindling sweet embers in my heart

A vermilion sunset kisses softly the sea
imitating you making love to me
above misty mountains of majesty
ill remember you through infinity

I think of you with a melancholy sigh
your image portrays a teardrop in my eye
dancing upon wondrous wicks of night
ill remember with bittersweet delight
still a wildflower in meadows of my mind
a murmur of a breeze from another time

You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses.

Victoria, this is so lovely and poignant. Every line is beautiful but the entire second stanza is my favorite. Cheryl

Oh, I know this sigh, it hovers around my heart daily. I can't decide if the memories make life better, or if I would rather have amnesia!

Victoria Dear. I just love this verse so much.
"A vermilion sunset kisses softly the sea
imitating you making love to me
above misty mountains of majesty
ill remember you through infinity"

yours are words that should preciously be held
so behold!
all who read them will cradle them dear.

This is my last post here, Victoria.   This reply, and one parting poem:

A Melancholy Plea

Hold not a melancholy plea
Whose coils constrict a heavy heart.
Release of your gifts of promise
will cease the bleat of sorrow.

Benevolent familial largess
bestows a fervent assistance;
a beacon to guide safely ashore;
astray & chaotic mournings checked.

Take not a long drink from dry wells-
the retrieval of liquid hope
lies stagnant; sate the thirst
augmented by stranger's kindness.

Back away from the unforgiving precipice -
Ignore the urgent welcomes of Sirens.
You are not yet meant to hear
those incessant passing bells.

Embrace your brother; breath his calm
Expel the battle within your self.
Soar with the peace of doves;
there are good blessings yet to receive.
