Tragic Strength

In darkness I sit all withered and pained
wondering what went wrong
My hands are all rusty, dark and stained
yet, somewhere I hear a song

Amazing Grace, the angels are singing
gently holding my hands
Tenderly touching, bells are ringing
what's happened to my land?

The fury of fire, the black of smoke
papers from life once there
I hang my head in sadness
wondering why I was spared

The angels in Heaven sing around me
keeping guard by my side
Giving strength through every hour
through the rubble they will guide

Each stone turned over, another life lost
devastation everywhere
Yet a silent force moves us on
each moment saying a prayer

A prayer for those who lost their lives
in such a tragic event
For those who've given all their effort
for them the angels were sent

Keeping watch through day and night
helping to find the way
Holding on to faith and hope
for the light of a brand new day

C this is so very touching and the picture really adds to the poem. so so sad, I have read and written so many of these and it amazes me that as I still read they are all so so beautiful and no one ever runs out of loving words to express..

Very heartfelt poem. Lovely picture. Chris
