A cheerful countenance

"A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, But by sorrow
of the heart the spirit is broken." KJV Proverbs 15: 13

I stand stark naked, as I look at myself in my mirror
My hair, my face, my eyes of blue, I see in blazing terror
Wrinkled brow, somehow, showing creeping dying age of decades
My breasts are full and sagging now as an old man's body fades.

My belly's crooked, showing a bloated expanded liver, there
Above a shrunken worm nested in curly unruly hair
I look at reality; nakedness looks harshly back at me
And says, "you've grown so old, you've lost your youthful vitality?"

But then my spirit says to me, wake up! Look out! You must know
There is no spirit age for you! God made you eons ago
Someday when your body lets you fly; you'll zoom into God's day
And leave this shell to burn in hell. So, onward! Go on and play!

So I dress and smile at fate, and run off to another date
A spirit seeking life, eternal. Come! Let's dance! To God's gait!
For I am young and need to play, God made man this wholesome way
Live and love, share all pleasure with every loving soul, today,

With a cheerful countenance.

It's all in the mind Newell. The mind stays young. Yet we all age. There is a lot to think about in this poem.I believe God's love keeps us young. Very nice.

Though the body frail,  the mind is young.
Though the years long,  the soul is strong.

you have expressed it very well within this
poem Newell...I can relate to your thoughts.
