Okay..so this is long.. Hope it isn't too boring.

There are seasons captured in my eyes
as I go forward into a land of poetry
and beauty.
There are stories to be told
and wonders to be wandered
while the feeling of innocence still falls behind.
Could there ever be innocence of things
where poetry shows its numerous faces?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have you ever watched a poet sitting
in the quiet and solitude of an evening
unlit by moon or stars?
When no light dusts the natural blanket above,
have you ever watched a poet compose beauty
only by the shine of inspiration in her eyes?
When pens run dry and papers have all been blown
on a trite wind of sadness
have you ever watched how the mind hangs on to words
wrapping itself around the determination
to breathe the life of words at all costs?
Have you ever watched a poet suffer
if only to create the most striking truth?
Do you think the only thing I notice
is my pen and these words?
If I didn't notice the world around me
then there would be no words like now.
I've seen you, Dear Poet, watching me from afar
wondering out loud at my life and dreams
emotions, determinations
and motivations.
I know you wonder where I'm going
who I've been with
what great love I've encountered
that I could write songs of my heart
without fail and without restrictions.
Do you envy the love I reach for?
Do you reach out with anger
when you read my words here,
or do you find something to hold on to?
Often it has been wondered why I write
and for whom I write.
Whatever cause you have to wonder
I could not guess
but lest your curiosity go unnoticed
let me explain.
For love.
I write for love, Dear Other Poet.
When the world seems to lapse
into the hold of too slow moments
I reach outward with a little hope
and dare to love all that surrounds me.
When life is too little a space for even me
I reach out, swipe my hand,
and dust a place to write my words
and find a place a great table
to place my dreams upon
so that I may feast with a smile.
I write for love
something which is not a what
something that is not a whom.
I write for love
and the sheer helpless belief in it.
And when moonlight speaks to me
I write it down.
When trees lean on the cheek of the wind
and breath their dreams of growth
I write it down.
When someone smiles or someone fades,
my pen takes flight
for, you see, I am in love with love
and in love with all that creates my poetry.
Maybe man of flesh who holds my dreams in his pocket,
or maybe maturity who seeks me daily
in search of acceptance from my will.
You want to know if I am in love, Other Poet?
I am
and I wonder the motive behind your ardent curiosity,
but I doubt it is any less than hostile.
So until my heart trusts,
I'll tell you my one true love
has always been poetry.
It has never left me or tricked me as humans do
and I endeavour daily to ease its knock on my life.
Amazingly beautiful in its imagery and purging? ... absolutely.
Superb write and contemplation Poetess Jenn..
take a bow for this one.
We wish ourselves beautiful ... we cry in the night.
It's not the love you feared ... but the fall from the height.
I too have discovered that it's best not to write for others, but to write for yourself.
Why would anyone think that a poet writes for another?  Unless, of course, the poet speaks of it on their own.  We should not assume, but rather, let the poetry be itself.
This is excellent, flowing and from a heart that indeed is in love with poetry.  My thanks for such a wonderful work.
YES...often times it is far less painful when
we deal with things that cannot trick,
deceive or hurt us...Poetry is that place..
and you pretty much summed it right up..
