           Losing My Friend!
My friend, why did you leave me on this long and winding path?
The good times now are memories, for those I’ll always have.
But memories just aren’t the same as sharing a laugh or two.
As time goes on the pain will heal, but still I’ll be missing you.
You always were so good to me, a true friend you were indeed.
It seems as though you were by my side in all my times of need.
And then it seemed that you yourself were feeling great despair,
I thought and prayed of how to help and let you know I care.
The clock, it kept on ticking, and never did I surmise,
That time would come to a screeching halt, with no time for good-byes.
So, as I lay me down to sleep, on bended knee I pray.
In hopes that you may hear my call and all I need to say.
Things like how I cared for you, all throughout your days,
Even in our darkest times, as we went our separate ways.
I thought about you often, and wondered how you were.
Wishing that my phone would ring or you’d knock upon my door.
Alas, these opportunities have now become an end,
But always in my mind I’ll have the memories of My Friend!

Thank you both for your thoughts....
This was my best friend from the fifth grade on.  She was a dear woman and seemed to always be there for me.  Yet, we had our differences and went our separate ways.  This is the most grief of all...

Thank you again and God Bless

Debbie,

I too can feel your pain throughout every word of this beautifully penned piece. I hope someday you can find another friend like her. I know I've found two that I hope will never want to leave our friendship.

Dear ohtbeme, This is a sincere and heartfelt poem. I am sure your friend knew, and knows how you much you cared about her. My sympathies. Chris

I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your friend.
This makes me think of my best friend, We have been best friends since 3rd grade and now she lives in NY. We try to keep in touch but life keeps us so busy! (hugs)

I'm so sorry for your loss Debbie. This piece touched me deeply this morning, and I've placed a note in my calendar to remember to call a dear friend of mine tonight when I get home. Thank you for this gentle, yet sorrowful reminder. Beautifully composed.

Best wishes,
/Kit
